Revolution on Paper
19/03/2010

In the lovely Sunday London sunshine I took a stroll to The British Museum to see 'Revolution on Paper: Mexican Prints 1910 - 1960'.

The exhibition features a whole range of beautiful Mexican printmaking with many pieces by ‘los tres grandes’: Diego Rivera, José Clemente Orozco and David Alfaro Siqueiros. There were also pieces from José Guadalupe Posada, famous for his macabre dancing skeletons and satirical works which were fantastic to see all together, i think these were my favorite pieces from the exhibition along with some of the woodcut prints.

There is such a strong feeling of emotion and power from the prints and a sense of community and union from the societies they formed to speak out against issues such as corruption and capitalism.

If you are interested in print making you can't miss this exhibition.
