GF Smith – Art on Paper
11/06/2010

1977 Design were lucky enough to be invited to the GF Smith 'Art on Paper' exhibition. The exhibition, held at 33 Portland Place, showcases samples of GF Smith's promotional materials from 1885 to the present day.

Some of the paper samples were over a hundred years old and the exhibition featured one of the first examples of a plastic wirobind, considered a quality form of binding at the time. It was great to see the progression of marketing materials through the years although I have to say that my favourite was a piece with nine die cuts and a silver foil – come on!

Hopefully GF Smith will make this exhibition public but for those who don't get to see it, check out our (somewhat blurry – sorry) photos on Flickr.
